For this update we wanted to showcase the possibilities with working in Unity. We realize we're only porting original Toontown Minigames, and while this is cool, it doesn't have quite the impact we've been hoping for. It's easy to think of these minigames as merely ports of things that have already existed, so there's not much effort into remaking them. However, in actuality, we're making these minigames basically from scratch, so they're way more work than if we were to have this game in Panda3D. To demonstrate just how quickly we can produce new content, we've created two minigames that have never been in Toontown before. Utilizing just the two weeks between now and the last patch. This was an enjoyable side project where a couple of our developers exercised their creative freedom. One is inspired by Bomberman.. the other is essentially a port of Pizzatron from Club Penguin. Aside from those, we've added the Ring Game from the original Toontown. This update goes above and beyond our original commitment of two minigames per month. In addition, we've been looking at how lighting can work in our game. It's still a bit inconsistent, so we haven't implemented it everywhere. You can look out for the lighting updates in the new Ring Game, Splash and Dash, and Tag Game... all three providing a different perspective on the type of lighting possible.

For the achievements, the ones we added were just placeholders, we will be looking into adding some achievements that require skill. When the game has more content we'll also be looking at how to incentivize achievement hunting as it would provide some benefit to the main game loop. For now they just increase the number next to your name. I don't think anyone has achieved these yet, but if you have you will keep your points, you'd just lose the actual achievement.
As previously mentioned, our initial commitment was to release two minigames per month -- up to a total of 10 minigames. So this will mark our halfway point of getting the minigame expansion out. We still have a lot of polish to do to the existing social features, and groundwork to complete to finish the expansion. This update also adds a lot of features, so there may be a hotfix or two shortly after. Thanks again for testing!
